the andy o show
situation:
while living in los angeles, i encountered a vibrant but overlooked community of musicians, artists, and songwriters. many of these talented individuals lacked visibility despite their incredible talent, and there was no dedicated platform to share their stories with a broader audience.
task:
my goal was to create a podcast that would bring attention to these emerging artists by providing a platform where they could discuss their journeys, music, and life experiences. i aimed to foster a community around their work, connect them with a larger audience, and elevate their visibility within the los angeles music scene.
action:
i launched a long-form podcast that featured in-depth interviews with artists, giving them the space to share not just their music, but also their stories, influences, and views on culture and art. each episode ran for about an hour, and i took on all aspects of production:
• networking & guest relations: leveraged my personal connections and networking abilities to bring notable artists, such as Matthew V., a viral sensation on YouTube and Spotify, onto the show.
• branding & marketing: created the podcast’s brand identity, designed promotional materials, and implemented a marketing strategy that included targeted ads and compelling copy to attract listeners.
• content creation: hosted, recorded, and edited each episode, handling both video and audio engineering. i meticulously curated the content to ensure high-quality production.
result:
over the course of the project, i produced and released seven episodes, successfully growing a niche audience interested in underground music and culture in los angeles. despite the podcast ending during the covid-19 pandemic due to the decline of live shows, the experience equipped me with essential skills in marketing, branding, audio/video editing, and community building—skills that i continue to use in future projects.
